Abstract

Total hip arthroplasty was performed in twenty one patients and the patients were followed for a minimum of six months. Heterotopic ossification developed in 76% of the patients and no correlation was found between heterotopic ossification and previously listed risk factors (p>0.05). We suggest that a systemic factor aside from these risk factors is responsible for the formation of heterotopic ossification.
