Abstract

20 patients with acromioclavicular separation of the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Clinic of Ankara University Medical Faculty were applied surgical treatment between October 1987 and March 1994. While in 10 patients open reduction, discectomy, ligament repair and K-wire fixation were done, in the other 10 Bosworth screw was used for fixation. Mean follow-up was 31.1 months. There was no significant difference between the surgical interventions. The important thing in the treatment of acromioclavicular joint separations is not the type of surgical treatment, but to decide whether the treatment will be conservative or surgical.
