Abstract

This case report presents an unusual case of late onset sciatica after central migration of a cemented acetabular cup. The patient was treated initially with lumbar laminectomy and decompression due to lumbar stenosis findings on myelogram. However, the increasing sciatica with increasing hip pain and intrapelvic cup migration and was not relieved following lumbar decompression and laminectomy. Removal of the cement and cup from pelvis resulted in complete relief of symptoms. Through work-up of both the hip and the lumbar spine is recommended in the presence of centrally migrated acetabular cup.
