Abstract

The physical properties of electromagnetic shock wave was first described by Eisenmenger in 1959. It was first used in the technology of aircrafts and spacecrafts. There are refractable and focusable properties of shock wave. In medical worlds urolithiasis and mechanical stimulation of asistolic patients were the first application of shock wave. In 1980 Chaussy used it for urolithiasis in human. After 1985 it was used in cholelithiasis, prostat carsinom and melanoma. In recent years, there are studies for the application of shock wave in Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
