Abstract

In this study, we have reviewed the results of callotasis in lengthening in 11 extremities of 8 patients with limb length discrepancy. 7 of the patients were female and 1 of them were male. Their mean age was 21. Mean follow-up time was 36.5 months. In all cases, Orthofix was utilized as a distractor. In 8 femoral and 3 tibial lengthening mean dynamization period was 5 months (2.5-7 months). Mean period for distractor removal was 7,6 months (4-9 months). Mean amount of required elongation was 7.8 cm (3.5-15 cm), but we have obtained 6.5 cm (3-11 cm). Healing index was 36.5 day/cm. Although our cases are very few as compared with literature, our results of lengthening with callotasis are similiar to the results of literature.
