Abstract

An open, total talar dislocation without a concomitant fracture is an uncommon injury. The favorable outcome depends upon infection and avascular necrosis that condition the result of this injury. A case is presented with avascular necrosis of the talus after an open, total dislocation. He was managed with arthroscopic assisted core decompression with a satisfactory outcome. A review of literature on open, total talar dislocation was performed.
