Abstract

A 70 year old female with an extraarticular deformity of the tibia and gonarthrosis at the same side was treated with a corrective osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty. Extraarticular deformities should be corrected in order to achieve a parallel joint line to the ground before performing total knee arthroplasty. Long tibial stems are not capable to stabilize the osteotomy site and additional stabilization is necessary. Extraarticular deformities should be corrected prior to total knee arthroplasty.
