Abstract

Angular and rotational profile studies of the lower extremities in children show a wide range of variation and the values change considerably by age. Deformities have to be differentiated from physiological variations and should be treated effectively, if necessary. The aim of this study is to obtain normal physiologic variations of rotational profile of the lower extremities in different age groups in a section of Turkish population. 232 lower extremities of 116 individuals of different age groups were examined for foot development angle, internal and external rotations of the hip, thigh-foot angle and transmalleolar axis angle. The results of these measurements were in accordance with those reported in the literature.
