Abstract

This is a retrospective study of 8390 cases in the 0-2 age group at a pediatric center in Trabzon city. 30 cases of congenital dislocation of the hip (CDH) were studied at this group. Prevalance of CDH was found to be 0.36% for this group and female/male ratio was 2.8/1. The left hip was more often involved than the right; 30 percent of patients had bilateral CDH. 20 (66.7%) patients were seen in other pediatric centers before; but were not diagnosed as CDH. The success rate of the treatment of CDH depends on the age of the child when treatment begins, therefore the time of diagnosis is very important.
