Abstract

Rehabilitation after sports injuries has a major role in the functional outcome of the sportsmen. Protocols for rehabilitation programmes focus on pain relief, ROM increase, strength, endurance, spesific skills and functional return to sports activities. Recently some new rehabilitation protocols - so called closed kinetic chain exercises - have been used and promising results were obtained. These kind of exercises associated with some new therapeutic modalities and assistive devices are emphasized in the accelerated rehabilitation protocols. An individually arranged and well programmed rehabilitation protocol help the athlete to recover from the disability and return to full competition.
